The community of national and local readers for the 45th annual Bay Area Playwrights Festival (summer 2022) enthusiastically recommends THE CASSANDRA MURDERS as a Semi-Finalist at Playwrights Foundation. We were deeply moved by the play’s use of parallel worlds and time structure to investigate cyclical systemic patterns and what one will do for protection when failed by societal structures. We were compelled by this play’s promise using classical narratives well to spark conversations on current CSA laws in need of change. This fascinating reimagining of the story of Cassandra follows her through time as she is reborn again and again, seeking revenge on the man who raped her. Over the centuries, she learns to set aside revenge for a more just and humane reaction. Fun fact from the play: Did you know the veil of time can be parted in any 7-11?
