This witty play has a depressing truth about the pernicious effects of the internet at its core. Let's hope that heading out into the world will relieve Rapunzel of the lies and hoaxes that have seduced her. The closing image really nails the seductive power of the screen.

What a brilliant turn on a classic fairytale! Rapunzel, locked in a tower for 18 years, spends one day with her first smartphone and she’s buying into every conspiracy theory the internet has to offer. Her Mother, realizing she may have made a parenting mistake, perfectly sums up the play and the undesirable effect of modern technology on our lives. You need to read it in context to fully enjoy it! So read and enjoy!

PERFECTION. Usually, when a human is not told something, they fill in the details from their own imagination whether wrong or right. Instead, in this short play by ADAM RICHTER, the internet, and all its stupidity, has done the work for the imagination... and done it VERY POORLY! I would LOVE to see this produced. It speaks to most of what is wrong with the world today.

Oh dear! Modern technology meets fairy tale times! This is a funny play with a sad tinge, for there are so many strange stories told in folklore, but these pale into insignificance compared with the 'information' we are fed online.
I love this short play, especially with its Terry Pratchett reference!

I absolutely adore this short play! It highlights in such a funny and familiar way what isolation can do to your perspective on the world. But also, I see Mother Gothel as a sympathetic mother who failed to protect Rapunzel by overprotecting her. Audiences will be laughing at the conspiracy theories set in this fairytale world. Just wonderful!

I love a 'fairy tale twist' play and Adam Richter has created a real doozy. Taking the traditional fairytale setting of Rapunzel and mixing it in with modern technology has blended perfectly here. While you are sat there laughing at the things the smart phone has 'taught' Rapunzel the piece is also one that will make you think about how much of a role technology plays in our lives and how big of an influence it is. Its a brilliantly written piece that will provoke discussion. Very well written by Adam Richter who truly has a gift for comical pieces.

A hilarious satire about the age of the internet and instant "knowledge", with a fairy-tale twist. It was fun to see the infamous Mother Gothel in the role of parent/fact-checker. Such a fun read!

TRAPPED is an apt title for the double meaning of Rapunzel's predicament. Whether it's an evil mother holding you hostage or an addictive device spreading misinformation, Adam Richter's clever dialogue and insightful message of technology's downside creates a unique spin on a classic fairy tale. It made me wonder what trouble Rapunzel, armed in the head with her arsenal of fake news, would get into next. An entertaining play that all teenagers and adults should watch.

Richter's short play shouldn't be dismissed as some skit that retells the Rapunzel story. Like his engaging retelling of the Medusa-Perseus myth, this playwright captures our complicated world through a satiric lens.
This is a thoughtful piece that makes you think about how disinformation - fake news - in the age of Trump is creating a dangerous world, tarnishing the minds of children (even those supposedly protected by parents). Makes you think about how even with best education and parenting, our children can easily be influenced by lies on the Internet.

Spot-on send up of technology's sometimes corrosive influence, on what we think, feel, how we react. Richter's clever fairytale frame gives us this perfect world to unravel, with Rapunzel and her mom spoiling for a good mother-daughter fight, on or offline.
