I have been searching for this play since I came out. Never before have I felt so seen and so heard on the page. This play tackles so much and yet never feels heavy-handed or unwieldy. I am yearning to see a production of this. Hell, I don't act much anymore, but I would jump at the chance to audition for the role of Spencer. Truly remarkable theatre here and I hope it has a long and vibrant life!

Chavez has crafted a beautiful play about bringing order out of chaos, from a bedroom to a person's past. This piece made me laugh and cry, and it handles heavy topics with brutal honesty and surprising playfulness. If you aren't a fan of puppets or poetry, this play may change your mind!

This play. This beautiful play. A play about the loss of friendship. About being fucked up and not able to fix that. Being shoved into adulthood, but what does that even mean any more. About screwing everything up and having to move on.

Beautiful. Hard. Darkly funny. Puppets too.

    Don't pass this one by.

Chavez's poetic writing structure lends itself to what might be one of the most intimate scripts I've read in a long while. Everyone has a unique relationship with their bedroom, and this is especially the case for anyone who struggles with mental health. Chavez deftly breathes life and theatrical magic into the most mundane of items we'd find in our personal space. There is a melancholy joy to this play that will stick with you. Highly recommend.

how to clean your room is incredibly raw and truthful. Chavez does a wonderful job of showing mental illness in a way I haven't seen in a play in a very long time. A fantastic piece of art.

A highly creative approach to a memory play; Chavez's piece is an excellent experimental work that uses puppets, poetry, and a very messy allegory of a room to explore the relationship of a non-binary individual with the people they care deeply about, as well as coming to terms with themselves.
