A year after their mother’s death, two American Jewish siblings return to their childhood home and are faced with revelations that challenge the very core of their cultural and religious identities as they wrestle with Zionism, Orthodoxy, and white privilege.

Lisa has a gift for interweaving serious politics (in this case, the Israel/Palestine situation) and long-standing family conflicts and making it all very, very, funny, without taking away from the seriousness of the issues. Not an easy job, but she makes it look effortless.

I had the privilege of developing this play with Lisa in the Mission to (dit)Mars Propulsion Lab. FIDDLERS is a family drama and an uproariously funny comedy all in one, where Lisa explores weighty subjects like the Israel/Palestine conflict with humor and pathos. The last scene of the play is one of the most delightfully off the rails endings ever, in the best way. This play should be produced.

“
A family drama that is a microcosm of contemporary Jewish politics. The play's fractious central family excavates how the political can be so deeply personal, especially when that person is your kin. Some great laughs and lots of awkward family arguments, all punctuated by the heavy weight of grief to keep things grounded. Brava, Lisa. A work well done!
