  • SMJ .: Our Play

What a beautiful play. An amazing piece that should be studied in high school theater classes when you inevitably talk about OUR TOWN. So funny, so real, so fresh, and so haunting in the final act. A director's dream with ever-changing settings. This is the kind of play that makes me want to write - only hoping that I can reach this level of excellence. A must read.

  • Jon Herbert: Our Play

Our Play gives voice to the issues troubling today’s youth. Yet, it has an inspiring, hopeful message about truly living, an appropriate counter message to the doom and gloom of our present political situation. The characters are real, often recognizable, but they defy easy categorization. No one is extraordinary, but all are compelling. The dialogue is raw, quick, and frenetic. Lines overlap. Words collide with each other and become conjoined. It’s a fascinating ride with a symphonic effect.

  • Rachel Beth Greene: Our Play

This right here is a DEEPLY special play. I had the pleasure of seeing a reading performed by college-aged actors and was in awe from beginning to end. The first half will make you laugh so hard you tear up and the twist will gut you. Written with so much heart, filled with nuanced, exciting roles for a large ensemble, this is the play that young people need right now. I cannot WAIT for the chance to see it fully staged.

  • C. Meaker: Our Play

In the first half of this play, I was laughing so hard I couldn't stand it and then the play turns, because of course it does. This powerful play is an amazing opportunity for young students to process the real violence they face alongside the joys they will remember years later. Moss shows the complex and deep feeling of adolescence and how easily things can be ripped away. It's so brilliant and I'm still mad I didn't write it.

An insightful look at a high school drama club and the relationships and experiences that come out of that. Well done.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Our Play

First off just the way Moss presents the characters in the breakdown is thrilling. High School! Second it's a concept you have to slap your head and feel dumb for not at least considering. Third Moss pulls it off brilliantly! With surprises galore! SO STUNNING! DO NOT MISS THIS. If only we were all producing this play instead of Our Town for like the next 50 years everywhere, and after that maybe we could do it in rep with Our Town, but first only this. READ IT. DO IT. REPEAT. (<3)

  • Nick Malakhow: Our Play

Exquisite piece that demands to be read, performed, and appreciated by teens and adults alike. Moss echoes and subvert "Our Town" with a deft hand that results in a piece with a similar universal-meets-mundane ethos while still feeling fresh. The "world building"-->"world expanding"-->"tear-inducing-mortality-rumination" structure feels familiar as someone who has seen/read/directed Wilder's piece, yet it's done in such a novel way. How wonderful to center the piece around teens given "Our Town's" often touted crown as most produced HS play. It honors and reexamines that source text.

  • Hayley St. James: Our Play

I have shockingly never been in a production of Our Town, but I did LOTS of theatre in high school, so “Our Play” touched a deep nerve of nostalgia for my drama club days. This absolutely pitch-perfect look at theatre kids in all their messy, awkward, hormonal glory through the lens of Thornton Wilder’s everlasting contribution to humanity just oozes with universality.

  • Matthew Weaver: Our Play

    This. Is. Amazing. Incredible.
It's the look behind the scenes of a high school production of OUR TOWN that you didn't know you wanted to see. And it evolves, from awkward romantic longings and awkward conversations to hilarious shared group jokes to something that is ...
    devastating
    In the worst/best/worst possible way
And yet stays true to the original source
    in the best/best/best possible way.
    Read this play.
    Perform this play.
Let the closest school know so students can know, there's a play that's for them, that gets them, that speaks
    to/for them
    And hears them.
