A local classic. Lee captures so much of family dynamics in Hawaiʻi, and so well. A must-read/must-see!

This play is so fun, even despite the harder themes. I adore the narrative structure and all of the characters. I love how each scene/vignette centers on the flora, especially those that do so in unexpected ways. The range of characters makes this great for dynamic casts, especially regarding its centering of indigenous voices.

The dialogue is spot on. Each member of this large family has their own voice. The play moves quickly from each short scene to the next, The unique family dynamic makes this a compelling piece. Great roles for older women!

This play is funny. The dialog is skillfully written to make the most of the gentle humor and overt humor and sheer amusement on almost every page. I enjoyed all the different ways it entertained me. I got the impression the playwright was enjoying herself when she wrote this. I would love to see it produced.
