Plano

Tonight, and later, and earlier, three sisters (no, not those ones) are stricken with a series of strange plagues. Let’s talk about family nightmares. I mean, uh, memories.

This was the last piece of live theatre - at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago - that I saw before entering quarantine, two weeks ago, and what a gift. I'm still chewing on Arbery's evocative familial dysfunctions, crossing the bounds of space and time. A play as real-unreal as anything we're living today. I'm so sorry that this brilliant production, like so many, cancelled early. So grateful I got to see it! Give it a read, and see what I mean: It's weird as sh*t, but that makes more sense all the time. I'm a big fan.

I just saw this at Steppenwolf's First Floor Theater and loved it. It's creepy. It's funny. It's weird. It bends time, or maybe it just ignores it. But does it matter if you can escape the laws of physics, when you can't escape your own demons? I don't know. I'll figure it out later. It's later. I still don't know. But I loved it.

I thoroughly love this play beginning to end! I especially love how Arbery handles time. Nothing shy of brilliant.
