What a terrific play. Layers and nuances not often seen in a ten minute piece. It will make you think about the assumptions we have and distinctions we make between aliens and humans in so many contexts.

Observing human behaviour through the eyes of outsiders is always interesting and insightful. In addition to both of those, Greg Lam has also made it funny as two creatures, new to the wrold of humanity are tasked with finding ways of fitting in. Its a wonderful piece with witty back and forth dialogue and is sure to make you laugh, which is ironic, the idea of humans laughing at a play where aliens discuss the complexity of having to emulate humans. Would make a great piece for performance and easy to see why its had such a great production history.

This is a sledgehammer of a satire: very funny and shudder inducing. A part of me wishes Greg Lam's science-fiction scenario was reality; it would provide some reason why the state of leadership in the world has changed so drastically.

"The Ones Who Adapt" is a terrific short play. It's easy to see why this comedy was published in "The Best New Ten-Minute Plays, 2020" by Applause Acting. It deserves all the publications and productions it earns.

Who better to comment on the tragic follies of humanity than the parasitic space monsters who've been sent here to destroy us? How better to make a pointed analysis of our grim political situation than with hot alien sex? Greg Lam is well versed in science fiction tropes, and has a lot of fun deploying them even as he mourns the catastrophic decisions and behavior of real-life human monsters.

Lam's creativity shines again in this little slice of sci-fi eco-theatre. It's fun in a sad way. Or sad in a fun way? Let's just say it's both thought-provoking and fun for the actors. Check it out!

I had the pleasure of seeing THE ONES WHO ADAPT at the Oregon One Act Festival. From the opening moment, this play drew me in! Alien parasites taking human hosts. So much fun! But the obstacles that they face seem insurmountable until they realize that they can manipulate humanity. It's clever and timely and a fantastic show!

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Alien parasites! Lawyer jokes! Earth mating rituals! And some outright political satire! I am so in on this one. Lam's piece made me laugh and ponder just who might really be running things and why they are running them the way they are.
