11.27.24 John Busser is an incredible writer and as you should come to expect Taylor Made delivers in all of the right ways. Unexpected twists and turns, stakes that increase with each decision the parents take. The authenticity in the voices John has created are remarkably clear and relatable. This show deserves a broader audience and should be applauded. Fantastic show from beginning to end as Busser explores the world of what might become. Highly recommend.

Firstly, love the pun on the title. This is an incredibly witty script. Right from the opening scene of the nervous couple on the bed with a "device" in their hand. Love the way the slightly manipulative Carrie breaks the news to the dork Jeff. After that the device takes centre-stage in leading them through all the mind-boggling options that will set you laughing till the end. Wait for the end, though. Beautifully climaxed as can should be when the bun is successfully in the oven.

This play brought to mind videos of expectant parents sobbing in disappointment at their own "gender reveal" parties. However, this witty piece delivers a moral about what it means to be a parent through two funny, flawed individuals who actively grapple with decisions that could literally transform a human's life. Brilliantly, Busser helps the audience fall in love with the titular, hypothetical Taylor, making the stakes (and the breathtaking reversal) feel high and well-earned. Phenomenal!

John Busser’s comedy chops are on full display here, but so is his ability to provide thoughtful commentary. In this case, a device that offers prospective parents endless options to design their child offers laughs as well as consideration of what those choices might mean in real life. A comedy with real depth. Great work.

In a world where 'designer babies' are always a hot topic for discussion, John has created a very interesting piece on that premise. Having a baby is a nerve-wracking experience enough but then adding a million multiple choice questions and you get this wonderfully brilliant paced comical play with a wonderfully glorious ending. It definitely gets a Y from me!

Busser's works are always a delight to read and this one is no different. Funny and outrageous, it makes you really think What would we do if we could choose the sex of our child? For me, before my son was born I had thought I would do better with a girl just because I was gay and had always gravitated toward the typical girl toys and play growing up, but when we found it was a boy, I never look back and was just happy that in the end, your child is healthy which makes you a littler wise.

This is such a sweet play about the worries new parents have as they imagine their potential child. It covers everything from gender and its wide spectrum, to religion, to the simple physical attributes. Funny without actually discounting or making fun of anything, this play is so well written and deep! This would be a great addition to an evening of theatre or even to be performed for a group of expectant parents! (Even those adopting, to be honest) I select "Y" on this play!
