Rione of the Whispers can weave stories into magic, but now she hides herself away, haunted by past mistakes and old regrets. Will she be willing, or able, to pass her knowledge on to the next generation? Or will the tale that shapes the world be fully broken, once and for all? "The Whisperer's Apprentice" is a magical, theatrical look at narrative power, the people who wield it, and what it costs them. The play refracts the tropes of classic high-fantasy adventure, and uses them to imagine a better world for its characters.

A fantastic adventure as we meet the hero who can save the kingdom, but will she be able to rise to the challenge? A magical tale that has lessons to teach. Well done.

Character Information

This play is set in a fantasy world, but performed in the real one, which means the racial and gender make-up of the cast will tell its own story. In my opinion, Brand and Trammon should be played by cismale actors who identify as white. When casting the other roles, please be mindful of how you are subverting, commenting on, or reinforcing historic power structures. Break down the old tales as much as possible.
