The taking of a human life is one of the greatest evils on Earth. RYAN KAMINSKI skillfully approaches all sides of the trauma for families in THE SENTENCE. KAMINSKI's thoughtful short play asks audiences to reflect on their own beliefs around death - looking straight through the glass to the results of the violent act of taking a life.

A soulful reflection on capital punishment. What brings closure for one, only creates trauma for another. Unflinching, but not unsympathetic, this script gets deeper with each passing moment after I put it down. Well done, I cannot wait to see it performed.

Excellent ten minute piece. There's a very nice juxtaposition between the wife and husband and a nice denouement with the young man. A strong story line and the dialogue is true. This would be a good piece for any short play festival. Reminded me of Eric S. Mansfield's Witness to the Execution. Thanks for letting us read this.

Capital punishment covers a wide range of emotions and Kaminski hits them all in this powerful short. Indignation, revenge, sorrow, loss, grief. All of it wrapped up in so few pages.

The themes explored in "The Sentence" are weighty and resonate deeply. The play delves into the moral ambiguity of capital punishment, challenging the audience to question their own beliefs about justice and the human capacity for forgiveness.

Once you realize you’re in the viewing room of a prison execution chamber, you can hardly catch your breath until the end of this tense drama. Terrific examination of the death penalty and the multiple victims of a horrible crime. Well done!

You can feel the tension from the word go; Ryan Kaminski sets the scene so brilliantly and in the taut, considered use of language constructs a play which seems far longer than its 10 minutes - such is the depth of the writing. A play which stays with you and gets you in the pit of your stomach. Masterly storytelling.

There is as much tension in this short play as there is emotion. So many emotions.
As the man says, none of this us right. He is bought down to earth by the arrival of the teenage boy and audiences will feel sympathy for all involved.
This would be a difficult watch, but incredibly skillful writing that you will be drawn in whether you like it or not.

Nice taut writing, clearly and interestingly drawn characters--everything that you need and hope for in a great 10-minute play. Kudos to Mr. Kaminski!
