Recommendations of en-DANGER!-ed

  • Playwrights Foundation: en-DANGER!-ed

The community of national & local readers for the Bay Area Playwrights Festival in 2021 enthusiastically recommends EN-DANGER!-ED as a Semi-Finalist at Playwrights Foundation out of 755 plays. We were deeply moved by the theatricality and imagination behind this story, as the writer uses the unique setting to draw parallels between human and animal plights. We're compelled by the play's promise, as it explores the disastrous effects of climate change with both comedy and heart. We hope this play is widely read, finds dedicated collaborators, and moves swiftly towards production. #BAPF2021

  • Conor McShane: en-DANGER!-ed

The rare play that works as both an educational tool and a very funny satire of the conflict between conservation and Capitalism, en-DANGER!-ed is a delightful play that just might move you into action - if only to avoid becoming one of the endangered animals on display.

  • Nick Malakhow: en-DANGER!-ed

A comedic and sharply satirical ensemble piece that would be a treat for a creative production team to work on. There's much here to work with in terms of design and movement, and the heightened theatrical world Corwin creates has this super saturated, bombastic, original, collage-like feel. She explores so much: the intersection of environmentalism and media/social media/youth culture, "environmentalism" supported by the very corporations implicated, the role of apathy and self-interest in climate change protest movements, and more. A couple of potent, poignant moments tie the play together...

A big, bold, hilarious, messy (in the best way possible), panoramic epic about a disparate group of animals and humans dealing with a rapidly changing world. Corwin's gift for clever, witty comedy and razor-sharp satire is on full display here--but it masks a deeper, much darker undercurrent. The ending is truly one of the most horrifying conclusions I've ever read. This is that rare play that ACTUALLY makes you laugh one minute, then terrifies you the next. If you care about the environment (or, you know, humanity) on ANY level, PLEASE read this play!
