Today, many moments in our lives are driven by the pandemic. It's created and shined a light on things that wouldn't have happened, that are happening, that happened and that didn't happen. Joel, Paul and Mike evaluate all these situations for them together and apart. Death sits on our doorstep: do you really want to hold off on life any longer? This is a well-written, triumphant, sad and humorous play. Well done.

Philip Middleton Williams play proves that all problems are solvable after going for a cup of coffee. Well, okay, maybe not all problems, but some. And that's what keeps the world going 'round. At a time when getting closer is frowned upon, he shows us three individuals who find a way to bond over both a breakup and a joining, and does it in a way both heartfelt and satisfying as a cup of Joe.

Finding sex, romance, and intimacy during the time of Covid and social distance is a tricky task but Philip pulls it off with humor, pathos, and a surprising amount of tenderness. His play gives us hope for love during these troubles times.

There's a little something extra that I loved about this piece that was hiding right under my nose: its subgenre - Lovers in Flight. It gives a simple trip to the coffee shop an added urgency that's effortlessly sustained throughout. The story itself unfolds with subtle surprises, not only in the characters' histories and circumstances, but also their evolving relationships. What's especially great is the drama comes out of how civilized everybody is (which is not to say they aren't a little naughty...). There's tremendous emotion underneath, a quiet devastation giving the simplicity a deep and abiding power.

Williams is a master of the 'gotcha'. In this beautifully rendered short play, we feel all the things - including great empathy and understanding. He writes with such unflinching honesty and skill, reading his plays are a pleasure, and 'Til Dough Do Us Part is no exception. It's a pandemic play, but much more than that. The characters longings and dashed hopes will keep you thinking long after the coffee's brewed.

Philip Middleton Williams once again portrays modern society’s response to this virus in his bittersweet style. Williams will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you think in fifteen pages. A strong piece from a strong writer.

Sweet and sad, this short romcom packs a lot of feeling into its 15 pages, not the least of which are despair, and hope, and a bittersweet longing for things to be the way they were, before... whatever changed. A lovely, reflective work.
