A Summer of Spring is picture perfect. We’re taken to a quaint Vermont B&B that serves up pancakes and maple syrup for breakfast and fresh-caught lake trout and warm apple pie for supper. And if the meals are delicious, so is the story of Violet (Emma) who arrives searching for her roots. Conversations flow with ease between the characters that feel familiar. Vivian Lermond has created a delightful story. A Summer of Spring will warm any audience.

Vivian Lermond launches into a world of specificity- warm and hospitable, rustic and homespun- without a hitch! Compressed into a pivotal moment where three people's lives intersect, Lermond's characters live and breathe with great truthfulness. The story is tender and the subject compelling. Great work about a heartfelt subject.

I was able to listen to this heart wrenching story in an audio recording and they did a masterful job in bringing Lermond's characters and lines to life. The thing I took away most is that no matter what life deals you and no matter the heartache you may face the universe gives some of us second chances that we never expected. Lermond capture this perfectly with her masterful tale of family and what that really means for these characters.

This is a very simple play, suggesting the possibility of renewal and reconciliation. In it, an out-of-town visitor arrives at a B+B in Vermont hoping to learn about her mother, and finds her parents are actually the divorced proprietors of the B+B. It's a gentle, understated piece, somehow very American down to the apple pie and small-town New England setting, and it reminds me somewhat of the atmosphere of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town."
