I feel like I really came to know these five immigrants and would love to really know them, to meet them personally. Richter’s created a staged documentary with first-person accounts of the immigrant experience. The stories are touching, at times heart-breaking, but always inspiring. They represent so much of what constitutes the fabric of America. Well done!

ADAM RICHTER writes a most compelling short play with monologues by five immigrants. There is so much to love about “Second Home: Five Stories of Immigration”. We are a nation of immigrants, who came to our country and made valuable contributions. We need to hear their stories, embrace their value to our society, and recognize we are a better country.

These monologues are each individually eloquent and moving; cumulatively they constitute a stunning, powerful piece of theatre, ripe for creative direction and staging. I imagine being in the audience would be both a gut-punching and cathartic experience.

I had the pleasure of hearing a portion of this piece read aloud and I was captivated by the stories of this diverse cast creating a beautiful mosaic of the American immigrant experience. Adam Richter champions their experiences by using the interviewee's actual words, weaving them together in what is sure to be an incredibly moving performance. This will be a powerful piece of theatre when it's finished and I cannot wait to see it!

The realities and truths about immigration to America is brought into strong and intimate focus in this non-fiction telling of how five people found their way to our shores. Adam Richter brings these people and their stories to life in a way that is both intimate and universal.
