Quite simply a lovely ode to that thing we all do, written during a time when we needed the reminder, yet as eternal as its subject. More than an ode, really: a testament.

This beautiful poem on the power of theatre would make an excellent curtain raiser for festivals.

This monologue about the resiliency and importance of theater reads like poetry! It is gorgeous, and I feel like today was the perfect time to read it, as theaters are beginning to open back up and we’re all beginning to fill them again. I once read an article about how scientists discovered that our hearts sync up and beat as one in the theater, and this monologue feels like the perfect companion piece to that article, explaining why that is.

A gentle reminder of what theater has been and will continue to be and mean to each and every one of us, pandemics be damned!

Such a moving and inspiring one-minute play. I'm looking forward to seeing it performed in Gi60 this year!

Oh this is so very much a genuine love letter to theatre and the people who create it and find pleasure/comfort/joy within it.

Vivian Lermond's language is anthem-like in its visuals, its rhythm. I look forward to the performance of "Theatre Is ..." during the 17th annual Gi60 U.S. Festival in October 2021.

This monologue made a brilliant and fitting conclusion to the Gi60 Houston Spring 2021 production. But I also envision it as a curtain raiser, a brief act of reverence toward the power of theatre. I wish every theatre hosting a festival (one-minute, ten-minute, or any length) would consider opening or closing the event with Vivian Lermond's magnificent tribute.

The playwright had me at “word rhythms of hope”. A loving homage to the tenacity of the theatre .

Vivian reminds us that despite the darkness, the eternal light of the theatre will rekindle its flame and the lights will return again.
