I am so happy my search for possible TYA materials led me here! Clare and Joshua have created a fantastical western musical adventure that is truly suitable for all ages. I especially loved the conversation between Billy and Kit about how hard it is to be an older sibling, and (of course) the music is a treat! This play has my TYA educator stamp of approval.

A fun and irrepressibly joyful adventure for kids and kids at heart! I had the privilege of directing this with a diverse group of college students, and my cast was all-in from the first table read. The songs are infectious, the journey is inspiring, and the roles gave my actors plenty of room to lean into their creativity and moment-to-moment play. The audience was cheering (for Billy, Emma and Kit), booing (at Rowdy) and hissing along with the story. The audience said afterward that they loved the joy and specificity the actors brought to their roles and in the staging.

This show can be performed by kids or adults, or a mixture of the two! Our original cast has about 10 people, but we're not doubling any of the parts. If you're doing this as an audio drama, you could double Rowdy Chuck Slim and Billy Escondido, if you only want one adult male. You could also double any of the voice actors into the ensemble. The ensemble each has about one "character line" so it's also a great way to include more actors who want a small, fun role.
