Recommendations of Space Rock Sock Hop

  • John Perovich: Space Rock Sock Hop

A fun, unpredictable, and clever sci-if story — we don’t get to see this genre often on stage. Weeks presents an enjoyable departure with memorable, quirky characters that stick with you. The play contains mysterious elements that slowly unravel during the course of the play with twists along the way. The genre, coupled with the characters and mystery — it’s a fun time that’s out of this world.

  • Glen Dickson: Space Rock Sock Hop

There is so much to enjoy in Space Rock Sock Hop, the title alone makes me smile like a Cheshire cat.
I've worked with many youth theatre groups and this piece would be very popular.
A very original take on a very popular genre.
    Loved it.

  • Sasha Karuc: Space Rock Sock Hop

Transmitters and sock hops and jello—oh my! Nothing and no one are as they seem in this quaint little town. This delightful play starts off feeling like a 50’s twist on the The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids books, but just when you begin to settle into the world, everything unravels. Each twist is more brilliant than the last. Weeks has created something truly fun, campy, and suspenseful. This play would be a blast to see staged.

A delightful retro sci-fi throwback that takes familiar classic tropes and spins them on its head. Delightful teenage characters and a twisty plot featuring aliens, agents, and the ever-looming angst that comes with asking your dream date to the big dance. I loved it!
