"And when I make my way outside, into an empty public, I notice no one’s there. I make my journey into a desert, a neo-Jesús, everything Judean, all of us one sexy, sick Judas, pining for the next person to make toothless."

"The high-pitched screech and squeal of burning rubber in orbit. Hydraulic pump, rickshaw car frame, bustling like yer brother in bunk bed, post- virginal, post-sixty-second homecoming fuck."

"Call ‘em shit beans. Call me shit- mouth. Well, my shit-mouth turns to a shit-fist, and knuckles meet a jawbone."

I mean what's there to say? Brutal poetry.

As a National Committee Reader for the Bay Area Playwrights Festival, I read this play, surrounding itself around a kidnapping, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. Slack, Ro and Cameo are obsessed with their pasts, trying to use it to define their present and possible futures, which may be scarier than what they are experiencing now. The play is filled with strong monologues, moments of beautiful horror and a clay wall that changes in meaning. Audiences will go on a journey where the characters come a bit closer to understanding themselves.

Not to be hyperbolic but I'm 99% sure reading this play changed my life. Every single word is utilized so effectively. Every page evokes such a clear picture. It was a transcendent experience to read I can't even imagine how incredible it will be on the stage.

I just read a play that is beautifully written and utterly perplexing at the same time. Baisch gives you know easy answers here when it comes to the where and why of this play. He just lets these characters wax poetic and enthrall us as audience members.

Dense and lyrical with extraordinary imagery and a visceral intensity that kept me engaged throughout. I love the way this straddled the lines between drama, mystery, and horror. The way that Baisch plays with time/space and winding back and forth through them is fantastic and adds to the tension and mystery.
