Recommendations of Prefers Bright Indirect Light

  • Seth Milton Jones: Prefers Bright Indirect Light

The characters and set up for this play is so fun and imaginative! Veronica Tjioe puts in great questions about life into these quick witted plants! The characters were all so unique and the play as a whole is a fun enjoyable read.

  • Steven G. Martin: Prefers Bright Indirect Light

I recommend "Prefers Bright Indirect Light" for reading and production because Veronica Tjioe puts her characters through the emotional wringer. They experience everything from grief and despair, disillusionment and ennui to -- and this is where I found myself so very happy -- bright, genuine, mood-altering joy.

Nicely distinct characters, plenty of emotions and reverses, some existential themes, and a bit of joy? I really like this short comedy.

What a great read! Veronica Tjioe really brings these plants to life. The characters are vivid, the dialogue sparkles (and is quite funny) and I enjoyed every second. This would be a pleasure to see or act in.

Zippy, funny, sweet and angsty in a Beckett-esque way. This contemplative comedy makes you question what we really are on earth for.

Fabulous! Fantastical and funny! I LOOOOOOVE this play! I love the unidentified plant most of all and feel for their life, their angst and their pain, and the note they find is such brilliant playwriting (giving us a window on the people who live by that windowsill) - prepare to be amazed! Life and death in all its mundane brevity here made intense and eminently watchable, readable, producible and ENJOYABLE - thrilling!

An exceptionally funny and poignant short play. Every character is distinct and well-drawn and just as I would imagine them. The dialogue is so snappy, not a word wasted, that I raced through and then went back and read a second time to really savour the humour and pathos. Wonderful work.

The secret life of plants is brought to life in all its existential glory. Each plant is so unique and wonderfully written.

Lovely short play about both the internal lives and external needs of plants that isn't afraid to compare their own existential quandaries to our own. Really fun (and sometimes lonely) stuff!
