  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: I Heart Eating Brains

This is a great horror satire that looks at the stereotypes surrounding monsters and how some people just don't seem to care. Emily McClain crafted this story brilliantly and effortlessly (at least from a reader's point of view)!

  • Toby Malone: I Heart Eating Brains

Emily McClain achieves so much in this delightful ten-minute play, establishing a believable point of conflict and some fleshed-out characters before bringing in one with a little less flesh but plenty of self-advocacy. The ZVWMG+ turn is beautifully rendered and immediately secured my full admiration for this quippy short play. A great seasonal piece (obviously), and would be a delight in a site-specific location.

  • DC Cathro: I Heart Eating Brains

This zippy horror/comedy pokes fun at woke culture and PC-ness while being twisted enough to satisfy the scary cravings of horror fans. Strong character work and natural dialogue, plus an ending that serves up the perfect capper to this short piece. Great fun!

  • Daniel Prillaman: I Heart Eating Brains

This play is DELIGHTFUL. The zombie has become the quintessential American monster (perhaps an argument for later, DM me), and McClain has written a horror comedy that, without spoiling how, speaks directly to the insensitivity that has also unfortunately become quite synonymous with the country. It’s a brilliant twist. It’s funny. It’s bloody. And it reminds us that treating other humans like humans maybe shouldn’t be so hard. All involved here would have a blast.

  • Scott Sickles: I Heart Eating Brains

A zombie walks into a bar.

But does he know he's a zombie? Either way, he seems to be having a rough right!

Greeting Anslow are overenthusiastic bar manager Charlie and tattooed-and-over-it bartender Lola. McClain hilariously builds on these archtypes by putting them in a situation they (and we) could not have seen coming! You really feel you know these people as people, even and perhaps especially the zombie.

Perhaps you'll even come away with a greater sensitivity for our undead and otherwise supernaturally encumbered neighbors.

Great fun for actors and audiences, especially in Halloween...

I HEART EATING BRAINS is a great part of the Zombie-Vampire-Werebeast-Monster-Ghost genre! Emily McClain creates a fun Halloween show that is sure to clear um any misconceptions you had about the undead. An absolutely great script for Actors and Designers to sink their teeth into!

  • Dominica Plummer: I Heart Eating Brains

A great addition to the zombie genre with enough twists and turns to please every Halloween thrill seeker. The characters may seem recognizable at first glance, but McClain freshens them up for extra chills and plenty of laughs along the way. Actors and designers will have fun with this holiday piece.

  • Steven G. Martin: I Heart Eating Brains

McClain examines horror tropes through a contemporary lens, and audiences will nod and laugh in recognition. The details in the characters are wonderful, and actors will loving playing any of the three. This is an example of a perfect Halloween entertainment.
