Such a dynamic piece of theatre. Amazingly thought-out characters and a wonderful premise that drags you in and won't let you go til the last page. Christian St. Croix has created one of my favorite pieces of theatre to date with this one act. I love everything horror, and this brings those classic characters into a real scenario and has them show their humanity or lack thereof. Amazing work!

Loved this. The title brought me in, sure, but the story held me tight. I'd love to see this live or even be in it. That's what I loved about this supernatural story... I believed it. I want to know them, I'd like to be them. Such a good story.

What a fun and imaginative spin on the supernatural world. When you think about the baseline familiarity of the skills of each of the four main characters, you appreciate the extras that Christian St. Croix sprinkles in. Then there are the rules, the special relationships supernaturally, and you have the recipe for Supernatural Skills fans, like myself, absolutely love. Throw in a measured escalation strategy, additional layers of stakes, and complicated interpersonal connections and you find yourself immersed into the culture and environment that St. Croix creates. So much to love about this play, so little space to list it all: the (literally) fantastic premise, the high ethical stakes, and the relationships complicated by very long histories. There's the delicious juxtaposition of the workaday setting with the enormous supernatural forces assembled there. There's the captivating metaphor of marginalized groups maintaining a shadow system of governance unseen by the dominant world. But mostly there's the rich, funny, angry, sad, brilliant characters, and the spoken and unspoken magic between them. Funny, moving, wearily romantic, and also kinda hot...

At times boisterously funny, at others quietly touching, Christian St. Croix's THE OAKLAND SOCIETY OF SUPERNATURAL BEINGS is sure to delight. In just one act, this play pulls you into a whole new world—supernatural yet with subtleties and complexities not unlike our own. Although the four supernatural beings are meeting with a specific purpose in mind, St. Croix’s sharp dialogue brings to life these characters' rich and complicated histories and relationships. Good theatre excites and challenges you, and this play does that and more. It would be a delight to see staged.

Y'know when you're drawn into a play just for the title? Yeah — That's me with this one! And St. Croix permits you to set it in your neck of the woods, too. The Portland Society of Supernatural Beings has a nice ring to it. What world building! This play constructs more depth in the zoom-o-sphere than I've seen, a rich tapestry, an uncanny history - there's cracking humor, one liners - but St Croix digs into meaning, too. Looks for questions — that may not have answers. A gem.

A zoom play I'd gladly watch. Love how the ethics of supernatural powers are explored in this one act dramedy.

A truly original premise for a Zoom/video call play, with a supernatural cast of characters written exceptionally well. A fun, witty, dark, and altogether unique one-act that would be a joy to watch and design!
