The community of National Committee readers for the 46th Bay Area Playwrights Festival advanced MY EYES ARE UP HERE HONEY as a Semi-Finalist at Playwrights Foundation. We were highly engaged by the way these three characters struggled to navigate their relationships outside and inside the virtual world, and the stresses of the virtual world on bodies. We appreciated in this non-linear play the themes of queerness, self, loneliness, corporate manipulation, voyeurism, and multiple realities. We hope this play is considered for further development and investigation, and finds dedicated collaborators in this play’s journey towards production. #BAPF46

Lily's unique voice is like no other. The playwright creates a world that will make you question intamacy and vulnerability within a digital age. This play is nothing like anything I've read or seen before. Can't wait to see where this play goes. A great play by a great writer.

The Workshop Theater is pleased to recognize lily gonzales as a playwright selected out of a competitive pool of applicants for our Winter 2021 Writer’s Intensive. The Writer’s Intensive is an eight-week long, playwright-driven process geared towards revising an existing play. lily’s intuitive approach to playwriting results in characters that are practically touchable and compelling, unique situations that audiences will never have seen onsage before. Oh older folx, listen with open hearts and ears and let yourself learn. This lovely and heartbreaking piece about love, gender and the barriers between us can open your mind to understanding. It's also beautifully wrought and written and lily's is a unique and important voice.

A stunning, loving exploration of intimacy in the digital age. Each character is fully fleshed and treated with care, as is the audience in this digital age piece.

If we are learning anything about our current times it is about our relationships to screens and how we can foster relationships through them. I love how gonzales explores that while also looking at issues in the world of sex work. Endless dialogue will come from this play about the new ground it breaks with both form and content.
