Fully developed characters (and what characters!) in a deeply dark comedy set in the woods of Massachusetts. Snappy dialogue in authentic accent. Also seems easy to produce, even though very theatrical. Excellent!

MacLean easily sets up a situation where we think we're seeing a bunch of lowlife townies getting their drink on. The truth is much harder to realize, as the story unfolds and a gruesome development is revealed. The rigidity and stress between the couple exist from the start. And as the play moves forward, we are drawn further into their shocking and callous act of vengeance. Disturbingly engaging!

An uneasy vibe gives way to gruesome truths in this brief but dense thriller. MacLean's characters are vivid and desperate. They'll get what they feel they deserve, no matter who stands in their way.
