"Physical Education" unravels the comedic chaos of youthful love with a twist of family farce. In a single dorm room, innocence meets vanity, as secrets threaten young romance. Allen's sharp dialogue and vivid characters make for a hilarious critique of hypocrisy in the corridors of academia.

Like all great farces, Physical Education builds reveal upon reveal and complication upon complication. The simple premise of a young couple in love seeking parental permission to marry explodes into a jumble of complex relationships among the various characters. Efforts to maintain secrets are especially comical, but the entire piece builds wittily to a rip-snorting climax.

The course of true love never did run smooth, well that's definitely the case here! The playwright weaves a beautiful web of complexity as the characters relationships are revealed to the audience, getting more and more complicated by the page. The plot twists and turns with brilliantly crafted elegance, making you smile as the characters discover the crazy situation they have found themselves in. I'm sad I didn't see this piece being done live because my bet is it was brilliantly funny!

I had the pleasure of seeing this as part of Divafest 2019 in Indianapolis. It was a standout of the festival. This was exciting with the stakes being constantly raised by small intervals until it all blows up in their faces. This is charming, funny, and well done.

Two college students in love. Two sets of parents who object. An affair. A “cougar.” What could go wrong? Maripat has written a one-act comedy full of secrets and twists. The tension builds throughout the play—becoming rather thorny when all of the characters come together in a cramped dorm room—and concludes with a satisfying ending. My husband and I were in the audience for the production at DivaFest 2019 in Indianapolis and thoroughly enjoyed this zany romp!
