It's hard to fully embrace derivative plays and to write a fresh take on Cinderella, a tall order. Well met, by Molly Wagner. Yes, the Godmother’s argument makes sense in the ideal world, but - wow - giving in to the kind of linear logic she presents, that life is a series of moments, each equal to the one before - not for Cinderella. Or me. I love Cindy’s monologue on page 6, the Godmother’s bossy vocalization “Up-bup-bup!” and the marvelous conclusion. Memories are sustainable, as the memory of IF THE SHOE FITS will attest.

"Everyone loves a costume change" and this play give us a beautiful perspective on the Fairy Godmother empowering a young woman to be herself. Fun, relatable banter and lovely insights make this fairytale moment a humorous and endearing exchange for all!

Felt like I was reading a hidden scene. A great twist on this classic fairytale with a rather deep and intuitive message. I feel this would be great as a mental health awareness piece. Screw conventionalism and the pressures of societal normalities. Be yourself and not a sheep. If people don't like it they're not worth knowing. Great work.

I've seen many different versions of Cinderella but this was a truly brilliant twist! Putting the onus on Cinderella to think about her actions and actually brave the ballroom after midnight and let the prince see her true self, its very clever and a brilliant message to young girls to not be afraid of showing their true selves. Couple this with the very funny back and forth between Cinderella and the fairy Godmother and this would make a great family show!

Finally, a Fairy Godmother who tells it like it is! I have seen a variety of versions of Cinderella from different cultures and in many different formats (haven’t we all?) but this play gives Cinderella an actual chance to grow a spine and enjoy life on her own terms. I won’t say if she takes her benefactor’s lesson to heart, but Molly Wagner makes us all realize that a shoe doesn’t always have to fit forever to be able to follow our bliss. Wonderfully entertaining!
