Recommendations of Lois Returns

  • Cassie M. Seinuk: Lois Returns

I got to see and stage managed this at the Boston Theater Marathon and I’m still thinking about how funny and clever this play is. Also this is the right way to do a monologue/solo performance 10 minute play. This legitimately is a 10 minute and not only a long monologue. A great opportunity for a comic actress!

  • James McLindon: Lois Returns

I saw this play as part of the Boston Theater Marathon, and it was one of the funniest of the two-hour set. A Rosenstein-and-Guilderstern-type look at what one of pop culture's most famous girlfriends is worrying about offstage while her man is saveing the world onstage. Great idea, great execution.

  • Fabiola R. Decius: Lois Returns

I had the opportunity to view this play as part of the Boston Theater Marathon XXIV. I was engrossed with Lois from start to finish with this comedic piece, but we need to get her back on a call with her therapist. I want to hear more about Lois' adventures with Peter Parker.

  • Gary Sironen: Lois Returns

As a fan of comics when I was a kid, well, maybe beyond that period - for awhile... Anyway, very funny! Some of the humor is not unexpected but it is delivered in an unexpected, very humorous way. Thanks for the laughs, John!

  • Cheryl Bear: Lois Returns

A revealing monologue in which Lois Lane has to choose between her fantasy version or the reality. Which is the way to go? Well done.

  • Scott Sickles: Lois Returns

Lois Lane. Always so together, so mature, even though she's torn between a mortal good-guy and a superhero who bear more than a passing resemblance to each other, but everyone has a type, right?

    Well...

Minigan gives us a more realistic Lois because when your boyfriend has a secret identity that he lies to you about while allowing you to form attachments to both, IT MESSES YOU UP!!! And when you try to explain it... even to your therapist... how's that gonna sound???

    EXACTLY LIKE THIS! That's how!

A brilliant examination of codependency, gaslighting, secrets, and relationships. Heroic!...

Brilliant. I just watched this as part of the Talking Horse Mono Contest. A wonderful premise, full of great lines. 'Fumbling around in the sex department' was one of my many favorites. You hope the piece will go the way you think it will, and it does, but then it goes further and gives you more to discover about Lois. So fun, I had to read it again to really savor the excellent writing. And a great performance too.

  • Steven G. Martin: Lois Returns

This very funny monologue for a female actor shows that a person could be dating the best person in the universe, but still find flaws in the relationship.

John Minigan enriches that premise with the level of detail Lois provides upon returning to her therapy sessions via Zoom. Minigan knows his stuff and some audiences will pick up on these gems and enjoy the story of "Lois Returns" even more.

Lois runs the gamut of emotions and has her own agenda, which makes her a great character. I enjoyed Back Porch Theater's performance in April 2021 very much.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Lois Returns

Be careful what you wish for. In this monologue Lois confronts her disappointments in this funny monologue. Sometimes fantasies are more exciting than reality and helps some people thought their relationships. I saw this read and performed on Back Porch Theater by Miranda Jonte and it was such a delight to see live!
