A super endearing play about identity and vulnerability. Sofia and Alex’s dynamic is particularly touching - just super authentic and brimming with optimism. Really enjoyed this. Read it, produce it, repeat!

Chem Class is a touching and beautifully written play that captures the strength of real friendship. The natural, heartfelt dialogue and the subtle emotional shifts between Alex and Sofia instantly drew me in. As someone who remembers high school's awkwardness and intensity, this story resonated with me. It left me smiling, hopeful, and a little teary-eyed in the best way.

High schooler Alex decides to ask his best friend Sofia to the prom. Oh, but this prom proposal is not quite what it seems and it does not go the direction you're thinking. This is my first encounter with a play by Jennifer O'Grady and I am curious to read more.

Who knew being turned down for the Prom could be life-altering in a good way? This charming tribute to real friendship is as engaging as it is ultimately uplifting.

A lovely, layered short play about allowing ourselves to break free from what contains us. Sometimes it takes a true friend, who knows us better than we know ourselves, to give us a little nudge in the right direction.

What you resist runs you. Jennifer O'Grady has written a lovely play about how our secrets can imprison us, close us off to so much in life. Alex has a secret that keeps him always on edge. Sofia his high school friend desperately tries to help him open up to his true self. Their relationship is beautifully realised in this truthful and poignant play.

Innocence. Anxiety. Friendship. Family. Hope. CHEM CLASS is a beautiful coming of age short play that gives us a glimpse into big changes to come that include the pandemic, health, and acceptance of self.

A lovely coming of age play with all the hopes and fears of youth. The fear and desire for acceptance of who we really are. We hope for Alex, holding our breath for a moment. In just a few pages, Jennifer O’Grady makes us care for these characters as if they were real people.

JENNIFER O’GRADY’S “Chem Class” is a beautiful play of being real with ourselves and others, and pushing forward and living our life as we wish despite the anticipated harassment. The teen years are hard enough, but for some, the pressures can be crippling. In this piece, Sofia gives her longtime friend, Alex, the gift of truth, encouragement, and a little ‘push’ toward what he truly wants. Heartwarming!

What a touching and beautiful play about being true to oneself and at 17 that is probably the hardest thing to do for a lot of teenagers and adding in something that's not "common" among the rest of the class, makes it even harder. I wish for one day when religion won't pent people so into what's right and what's wrong and the world will just realize that this and that are just things that are accepted. Think of the type of world that could be if focused on those things that really mattered.
