And the fact that it deals with familial discord only adds to the tragic sense of the piece. Mr. Loftus has once again shown himself to be a writer that deserves our reckoning.

Don Loftus has demonstrated remarkable range as a playwright, crafting everything from laugh-out-loud comedies to deeply moving dramas. With The Archway, he enters darker territory, giving us a taut psychological thriller that grips us from the opening moments and keeps us riveted until the very end. Great characters, dialogue, and pacing. This play reminds me of King’s Misery with the torture, both psychological and physical, but the clever premise is all Loftus. Bravo!

A gripping, twisty thriller with progressively escalating suspense. The premise borders on the biblical, with two estranged brothers, each deeply flawed, engaged in a dangerous cat-and-mouse game. Best of all, the masterful craftsmanship of Donald Loftus keeps us on the edge of our seats (and guessing) to the very end. Bravo!

DONALD LOFTUS has written a wonderful mystery/thriller with three characters. In “The Archway”, we find a hotshot lawyer, a bedeviled brother, and a beautiful young woman, each with an overriding desire to have their most important dream come true. In this fast paced drama, truths and deceptions are told, and the audience is kept wondering what is true and what will happen. The characters are interesting; the dialogue is well written, and the pace is fast. I thoroughly enjoyed this play!
