I just love this monologue! I suspect that all women, Asian or otherwise, can relate to the way our female anatomy is not just under valued but also lacking the basic vocabulary that men are granted. Wang brings a biting wit to the absurdity of the situation we find ourselves in. It is a universal situation that crosses cultures and ethnicities. It's funny and poignant and would be a joy to play.
I can see why it was selected for Bread & Roses Missouri's Social Justice Shorts for 2026.

A spot on monologue by Lucy Wang on how women's body parts are shamed and demeaned through the labels assigned to them in many cultures. Lucy accurately uses humor and truth to highlight the prejudices stuck to the female anatomy - an anatomy that should be cherished , appreciated, and uplifted for its special beauty and amazing functions.

A very funny monologue that will resonate with many around the attitude we have towards our bodies. For a louder, prouder and more empowered future!

Lucy Wang is so incredibly funny here. The connections seem random, but they're not. This, like many of her other plays/monologues, revolves around language and the deeper meanings behind the words we take for granted

An excellent performance piece for an Asian American actress that both pokes fun at and illuminates the way language and terminology affects our sexual health and outlook.

Fast-paced, funny and full of subtext - DOWN THERE is just plain fabulous! Wang gives us a look inside the mindset of anti-feminism at play in Asian culture and its impact on female empowerment. Brilliant!
