Science Fiction Drama. 5M, 1F. Based on H.G. Wells’ “THE CROQUET PLAYER.” 1939. Georgie Frobisher, a champion croquet player, is staying with his wealthy aunt, Miss Frobisher, at the tony Perona Springs Hotel and Spa set high up on a cliff overlooking the French seaside town of Les Noupets, Normandy. While sitting on the terrace, Georgie meets a charismatic stranger, Dr. Finchatton, who tells him a ghost story about a remote English village in the Fenlands, called Cainsmarsh, where the locals have suddenly turned vicious, hating one another, bludgeoning animals, and beating their children. After consulting with a renowned psychiatrist named Dr. Norbert, he learns of a toxic cloud drifting across the Channel to Europe, creating an outbreak of Fascism. CAINSMARSH is a ghost story with an eerily prophetic parallel to the pandemic-stricken world of today.
