"Holding It Together" is a play about ten groups of high schoolers attending a football game. In the week before homecoming, the students cope with everything from marching band drama to texting miscommunications to existential cheerleaders before ultimately coming together to face the unknown as a community.
This show was developed with a high school during the COVID-19 pandemic. The large cast size, the abundance of flexible gender roles, and the anthology-like structure were all a product of working closely with the director and writing with their needs in mind, and the students had a lot of influence on the content itself. Additionally, the play was written to be as pandemic-friendly as possible: It can easily be performed outside and socially distanced, on a traditional stage, or via Zoom.
