I ADORED this 5-minute play by ELISABETH GIFFIN SPECKMAN. Four unique voices. Four varied perspectives. Four simple words. Is it okay to be jealous that I didn't write this? I see this so clearly on stage or in a ZOOM performance - that's not easy to satisfy the requirements of both. BRAVA.

Wow! We've all been in the receiving end of varied advice, but to have all this varied, conflicting advice would surely be overwhelming!

A clever, short experimental piece. Very good.

ELISABETH GIFFIN SPECKMAN’s “4 Words of Advice” deserves to be put on my wall, to be looked at each day, because it is a wonderful list of what to do, think, and feel. Elizabeth Giffin Speckman has a lot to say in a very few words, four at a time. I recommend you read and enjoy this work.

Wow! If we only had such words as we were maturing to be the person that we hoped to be. This play will resonate for anyone and there were so many gems through out, but I was especially drawn to never underestimating a haircut. A-People!

I have 4 words of advice: GO PRODUCE THIS PLAY!

Elizabeth Giffin Speckman tells us a complete story 4 words at a time. The open-endedness of this piece gives actors the freedom to explore each line and make bold vibrant choices. Great for any short play festival, and ideal for an ensemble looking for a text to devise with.

Aside from the damn good advice, what's most magical here is the amount of room Elisabeth Giffin Speckman gives producing companies to play. The only thing more fun than an atmosphere that jumps off the page is one that jumps off the page in hundreds of ways. You could stage this infinitely, and never see the same thing twice. This play is a hug. A comforting rite of perseverance. In 4 words...this play is astounding.

I loved this when I read it but hearing it aloud with four separate voices turns it into something transcendent. For me, on the page it was a lovely list, certainly filled with genuine heart and concern and connection. Hearing it... it's an emotional biography, a metaphysical terrarium, a lifetime's worth of simple advice that may or may not be useful, spoken by people who are invested in you and your life's journey.

Do yourself a favor and find three other people and read it together. Or find four and just listen. Take turns.

You'll feel the words.

"4 Words of Advice" would be a great Zoom piece. The staging for this play is endless. It could also make a good short film. This is the kind of experimental theatre we need right now.
