Dealing with Writer's block can be terrible. It makes everyone consider themselves a fraud. We grasp onto any possible lifesaver in the hopes of writing something original again. This is not necessarily about women writers as about all writers at some time or another. I'm becoming a Dana Hall fan.

I hope my family never sees this play... they will know I'm a fraud too. Writers are inspired by the world around them, and all too often, friends and family are unwilling and unknowing inspiration. What a delightful and pleasingly dark short play about friendship, vulnerability, and broken trust.

This is a fascinating piece, a combination of light-hearted and very natural dialog that takes a curve into some dark, unsettling places that expertly paint a picture of the unpleasant side of human nature. Really well done!

COPYCAT really packs a punch in such a short piece. The play may begin with a sweet and seemingly innocent chat between best friends. However, tensions quickly escalate, and the friendship is tested (in a raw manner well crafted by Hall!).

"Life is art" Dana Hall tells us in this peek into the lives of two friends, one of whom may be profiting off the misery of the other. But sometimes that art is messy, unpleasant and yet relatable. The two characters in this play need each other. It's only in the telling that we see one may need the other for a less-than-friendly purpose. The dialogue rings true here and while I was hoping for a happier resolution, the one I got feels more truthful and human.
