Standing tall amongst the finest episodes of The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror, "Is Anyone Watching This?" is absolutely nightmarish, and that's just scratching the surface. Submerge yourselves, and you'll encounter explorations of voyeurism, internet fame, private vs. public personas, social media addiction, depression, isolation, so so much. This is a genius premise, and (ironically) watching Gabby's descent is delightfully maddening. Watching this live would be an absolute mindfuck in the best of ways. Holy cow this is great.

what begins as a tik tok dance by the pool quickly spirals into the breakdown of our main character in is anyone watching this. with quick wit and a deep knowledge of the inner-workings of social media, kane brings the audience down the rabbit hole of a truly bone-chilling, haunting commentary on isolation and adolescence in the twenty-first century. highly recommend!

IS ANYONE WATCHING THIS at first presents as a tongue-in-cheek satire before transforming into a tense existential thriller. A master of character voice and the narrative power of gesture, image, and silence, Rebecca Kane infuses each moment with a subtle, creeping dread. The voice of the (possibly malevolent) meditation app provides a foil for the unraveling protagonist, and thought provoking commentary on artificial intelligence, our reliance on technology, and our inability to cope with solitude. The play’s final moments will leave you stunned.

“Is anybody out there?”

There are no good circumstances where that question is asked. It is inherently full of uncertainly and dread.

Kane fills her play with a beautiful, pervasive dread. There’s a simple question at its center: if you only feel like you exist in front of an audience, what happens when there’s no one left to watch you? While the play shines as a critiquce of influencer culture and the epidemic of narcissism it breeds, it also touches on the universal human fear of isolation.

Of having no one. In the world. Literally.

A bone-chiller.

"So true bestie." This script grabs the audience and creates a voyeuristic effect into watching the systematic breakdown of a character that we recognize online and around us. The juxtaposition of anxiety and calm allows the suspense of the situation to creep into the body of the audience, as we watch a person's worst fear come to life. Kane's dark humor creates memorable lines buried within the tension of the scene. Great script for a solo artist, and can easily a part of any collection or festival. Highly Recommend!
