←Recommendations of The Donor Class

Heard this at the first read-through for Left Edge Theater's Hindsight 2023 Festival and I laughed out loud. The humor is perfectly set up by sharp and serious consideration of the ability of the well-off to buy what they want - even if it's the fertility of those scraping by. The ending is perfect for the Festival's theme of Equality.

Almost clinical in its description, the writer really brings out the humor in the situation. A particularly interesting twist towards the end really gives you something to think about.

This is the 10-minute play that a festival audience will be speaking about for days: the working poor, sacrifice-selfishness, body perception, reproduction/sex and self-worth.

Give a lot of credit to Scott Carter Cooper for setting up the world of "The Donor Class" as dark and Dystopian, and then finding just the right moment to make the drop the other shoe. Going from dreary and dark to almost Day-Glo Neon Pink in tone (and humor!) is stunningly funny. This is satire done very, very well.

Imagine...COLORS! I love the tables turning in this smart and witty piece on reproduction in the future. I am a sucker for strong dystopian writing, and The Donor Class satisfies all the requirements. Audiences will love this.

This short incisive satire hits hard the commodification of human reproduction. Men being casually presumptive about women's reproduction. Sharp and unsettling. Have an uncomfortable laugh.
