Powles takes what could be a trite scene of gangster money negotiation and gives it surprising, welcome depth. Not only is this short spectacularly fresh, it strikes in its own way at the classic heart of noir and mafia stories, the parts of the business we do for our loved ones' protection and benefit…versus the alluring promises of what money can bring. This would be so much fun, to both portray and see.

This play is dripping with style! Stepping into a bygone era of gnagsters and the women who hung on their arms, one doesn’t immediately see the brilliance of this piece. But as the fast pace noir dialogue reveals its secrets you can’t help but cheer at the satisfying turn of events. This would be so much fun to see and even more fun to perform!

I had the pleasure of seeing this show live, and it was an absolutely astonishing piece. Rereading it, I again found myself falling in love with it. A truly impressive piece that has memorable characters and a story that leaves you on the very edge of your seat.
