What an amazing show about loss, acceptance, and love. AHAVAH is love. It’s an examination of grief and self with amazingly witty dialogue and the best type of comedy, truth. There is so much in this short play for the actors, audience, directors. There is little wonder why it’s been so successful. With the world the way it is we need more shows like this. We need more Ahavah.

Dana Hall and David Lipshutz have co-authored a gorgeous play about saying goodbye, coming home, and embracing your true self. Infused with love, humor and hope, I imagine Saul carrying on the tradition, leaving checks for his future grandchildren to find someday.

A lovely 10 minute... funny in the right places... touching and tender in the right places. Culturally fulfilling if you may be unfamiliar, but there's universality at work here as well. Grief and loss touch us all, whether we know the right thing to bring to the funeral or not. I can definitely see this piece entertaining and moving audiences who get the chance to see it. Wonderful characters created within a short time, and it was definitely great to get to spend time with them upon reading.

This is so sweet. This is true love. Between Saul and his Bubbie, certainly. But perhaps the start of a real future for Alice and Saul as well. Once he was able to be true to himself and face his family, his future with Alice is that much brighter. Even though the discovery comes at a sad moment in his life, Bubbie was still able to fill him with hope and the love of his family. Beautiful.

A touching and genuinely tender tale of loss, grief, and remembrance. Love doesn’t stop for death, so by what rights should it stop for how our lives evolve? Our momentary failures? Our victories? The transition from situational comedy into the topics of gravitas is wonderfully smooth, adding so many layers to what could so easily be a much less felt scene. A beautiful, impactful two-hander on every level, and a reminder for all of us.

A brilliant comedy that brings just as much drama as it does laughs. The audience can feel for these characters while also experiencing humor from the circumstances they are thrown into. The combination of Dana Hall and David Lipschutz certainly is a winning one!

Lies always catch up with you especially if a Rabbi is involved. Saul has secrets and he asks his girlfriend to keep them. Luckily she has a clear head. This very sweet love story would be popular in any festival.

We've had the pleasure of reading this play at our Sunday night play reading before and it offers up a wonderful gift of witty back-and-forth between a couple trying to negotiate the minefield that is a gathering of a traditional family. It's wonderfully written with two characters that you can't help but care about and if you've ever been caught up in the desire to prove yourself to your family then you'll definitely relate. This piece scores the triple for me, it entertains, insights emotion and conversation!

I caught the Newmarket International Festival's performance of this play online. Lovely writing, characterization and pacing. Love abounds. https://fb.watch/j5QVyqZKMd/
