so smart and harrowing, incredibly well-researched without hitting you over the head with it, and goes places a lot of plays wouldn't go. treats its subjects with nuance and humanity without ever letting them off the hook. kind of like heroes of the fourth turning but with 0 sentimentality and 100% more perv shit (positive.)

A riveting and devastating look at an often-talked about corner of the internet. Went grants these characters complexity and humanity without judgement--or forgiveness. Masterfully crafted and unflinching; I'd love to see this staged.

An insightful look at a sub-culture that has been getting a lot of attention over the past few years. Really complex characters and lot of opportunities for creative sound and lighting design.

A stunning portrait of disempowered characters navigating a moral Wild West. At once humanizing and cautionary, Degenerates offers an accessible glance into a massive, invisible subculture that has intoxicated and emboldened our socially vulnerable. Went crafts a remarkable, unflinching, urgent tale. Brilliant.

An extraordinary, gripping, terrifying, humane play. I've rarely been so riveted reading a script, and the effect on stage must be tremendous. I can't wait to see what it's like in production.

Brilliantly observed and rendered characters here--Went shines a light on the humanity and internal workings of these individuals while not at all shying away from their problematic elements. They create such a visually rich world onstage--I would love to see this realized in production. While this is a gripping ensemble piece, Target's journey in particular feels like an anchoring nucleus that propels me through the story. It ends in such a messy and human place full of terror and a quiet, hopeful coda. I'm eager to follow the development/production life of this play!

A really well-written, well-researched play about incel/internet culture. Creepy, dark. Good stuff.
