  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Ghost Light

GHOST LIGHT is an illuminating piece about a longing for connection. This play would be great for a talented actor and lighting designer.

I just want to put my arms around Keagan and reassure him. What a beautiful monologue about loneliness, light, and connection. This is so inherently theatrical - what a joy for an actor and lighting designer to play with. Playwright Cassidy Byron writes with great empathy and understanding of the human condition. It will make you do a double take the next time you're on a stage.

  • Kyle Smith: Ghost Light

Ghost Light is tender, powerful, and oh so moving. Many of us know what it means to be lonely like this, and know just how much it means when someone else cares. Well done.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Ghost Light

GHOST LIGHT is such a sweet monologue as we see Keagan alone on the stage trying desperately to have a conversation with the theatre ghost. What I love most is the ending, we are left to draw our own conclusions, I know I have mine. The setting and stage directions give this a real mood, a spooky atmosphere. I will give this the best comment I could give to any: I wish I had written it!

Cassidy Byron has created a beautifully written monologue that effectively makes any reader want to ball their eyes out. I can think of many times in the past where I was Keagan, and that's the beauty of this script; it's so honest and real and relatable to so many. Great work!

  • Paul Donnelly: Ghost Light

A touching exploration of a lonely, lost soul's last effort at reaching out to relieve their loneliness. The setting is resonant and the mystical elements intriguing. I was left with much to ponder.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Ghost Light

I remember feeling like Keagan. I remember wanting so desperately to have a ghost friend, because I already felt like a ghost in the world. This is such a powerful piece without being too graphic. It's relatable and can start many important conversations afterward.

  • Charles Scott Jones: Ghost Light

The authenticity of Keagan's voice is pitch perfect, as he very movingly opens up to the theatre ghost in a way I sense he would be unable to speak with anyone else. There's a logic to his desperation, a soul unburdening itself to the otherworldly. Fine work that I imagine is very powerful in performance with its mostly dark stage drawing the audience to the light.

This is such a beautifully executed piece. Especially perfect for small high school theatre programs looking to tell a strong story.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Ghost Light

I love the concept of this piece. A lonely person talks to a ghost of the theatre kept away by the Ghost Light burning on stage as the curtain rises. A lonely actor, a walk-on Ghost Number 2 in a "stupid school play no one cares about," needs to talk, even in the dark, during their darkest hour. A hopeful yet solitary piece. Bravo.
