Recommendations of Shark Week (short play)

  • Emmet L.F. Cameron: Shark Week (short play)

This is such a different, stunning, funny, poetic, & real take on a teen pregnancy plot. Would be fantastic as a festival piece for young actors.

What a great play! Imaginative and dream-like and yet the pieces fit tougher seamlessly. With out country out of control and stepping back in time to take more and more rights away from women and from letting them decide what is right for their bodies and for themselves, Phoebus gives us a play abut hope and setting the course back on track and the importance of fighting for those rights to let women have that say in what is best for them.

  • Dan Caffrey: Shark Week (short play)

So much greatness going on here, from how friendship gets complicated by seismic life events to the messiness of teen romance to one of the best anthropomorphic sharks to ever grace the stage. Thoughtful, inventive, moving, surprising, and just a ton of fun!

  • Katherine Vondy: Shark Week (short play)

Helpful hints are often circulated to anyone who's going to be near a body of water, reminding us that drowning doesn't look like drowning. SHARK WEEK shows us that this is true metaphorically, too; so often we don't recognize that the people closest to us are being pulled under by their plights. This short play expertly balances grounded human experiences with delightful flights of fancy to evoke a moment that is short in duration but long in meaning.

I really enjoyed this short play. Very well-written characters. Dug getting this chance to hang out with these people and a flipping shark!!

Waves - literal and of story - wash over this excellent script. Funny and strong, I hope to see it done.

  • John Daily: Shark Week (short play)

Unexpectedly rich in both characterization and theme, this lovely little play grabs you by the toe with some light back-and-forth dialogue between two friends, and then pulls you down into the murky depths before you realize what's happened. It's perfectly paced, timely, and completely deserving of the attention it's about to (hopefully) receive.

  • George Sapio: Shark Week (short play)

The confusion and pain of being a teenager is devastating and terrifying, especially as things get out of control and it looks like the world is ending. But throw in a Shark in Drag (yup, shark in drag) and this play takes a turn no one expected. Beautiful in its complexity, and full of honest characterization.
