A mind-bending play about a father and daughter on a road trip until it's not about that at all. This really went to places I didn't expect. A exploration of two people's relationships with alcohol and co-dependency.

The first time I read this play I couldn't breathe! And then every time I read it after that I also couldn't breathe. Can't recommend enough.

One of the best new plays I've read. Kallan's a unique talent - so inventive and grounded and theatrical. This play is begging for a production.

Dana's writing is boisterous and acidic, careful and evocative. A play about throwing yourself in front of a car for your loved ones, but reckoning with the face that they're driving the car. Like any good road trip, every scene makes you rubberneck to wring the last few drops out of the oddness and horror Dana evokes, and like any good playwright, she keeps motoring along at a perfect pace. I'm obsessed with this play and would love to see it produced immediately!

A highly original, super-theatrical play that makes bold and effective use of language, stage images, and the compelling and highly well-defined central relationship onstage. Dana's exploration of wounds and cycles related to family and addiction manages to be thorough and feel familiar while also being presented in such an unconventional manner. This play alternates between frenetic, absurd, abstract comedy; deeply felt pathos; and unsettling mental anguish related to this complex and harmful and familiar daughter-father relationship. Begs to be staged, and I'd love to see it in production!

An exquisite play. Kallan Dana does not give up the trees to see the forest: she is that rare playwright whose line-level experiments cohere beautifully with her a priori, macro-level structures. This play establishes rules just as quickly as it subverts them — all adding up to a heartbreaking, stunningly coherent, and fresh exploration of the bullet wounds that shared, canned family language often bandages.

Kallan is a wizard with language, making an audience feel safe in laughter and wordplay before pulling the rug out from under them in this hysterical, horrifying father-daughter road trip story. I was lucky enough to see this read aloud and found my mouth actively dropping open as the play moved relentlessly forward. The story weaves itself like a web so skillfully, unsettles you so subtly, that you can't help but be shocked and amazed when you inevitably get trapped in a nightmare. Brilliant play.

Soars off the page from the first word. Alternates between comedy, tragedy, psychological horror, and familial drama seamlessly. Never loses momentum as it rockets towards its inevitable and heartbreaking ending. Caught a reading of this play and it had the whole audience hooked from beginning to end. A must-read!

A rocket-fueled, verbose, and excitingly theatrical play that balances the comedy and sadness of the central father-daughter relationship on their road trip across the US, this play feels primed for production! At times scary, nostalgic, funny, and irreverent, this is a very special script! Highly recommend :)
