Sarah Groustra has created a wonderful story line premise that carries the day for us. The characters of Maisie is a true slice of life and undergoes terrific changes and the realistic awkwardness of growth. A challenging setting, this piece easily slides from scene to scene with pace and the dialogue is well written and poignant. A difficult subject to write well, this is a master class on writing erotica for the stage. Brava!

Maisie’s coming-of-age journey begins later than for most; it’s a journey that’s poignant and humorous. She’s a flawed but thoroughly likeable and vibrant character surrounded by a terrific cast of supporting characters, each distinctly drawn and essential to the story. The fast-moving dialogue sparkles and doesn’t miss a note. Insertion is an engaging, memorable play. Highly recommended.

A rare treat from an emerging playwright -- a play that does exactly what it sets out to do. Full of laughs (complemented by well timed gasps) Insertion perfectly captures the effervescent awkwardness of the modern sexual landscape. Maisie is an anti-ingenue's dream role, teetering between over and under sexed like a prudish seesaw. Sarah's work is a treat for directors, designers, and audiences alike!
