Written in response to 2 years of working as a queer respiratory therapist in a COVID ICU and forced to care for unvaccinated patients who's ideology would have him erased from existence, The God Cluster takes place in a near and likely dystopian future during a new pandemic in a virology lab where a vaccine is being developed. Dr Lee, a neurologist famous for discovering "The God Cluster," the part of the brain responsible for faith leads the project. Enraged by the trauma inflicted upon the LGBT community by religion and the murder of her own wife at the hands of the religious, Dr Lee has a plan for a vaccine that has more global consequences than just stopping a pandemic. Her plan is derailed when forced to hire a young Muslim Dr as an assistant researcher who digs up not only the truth about her vaccine, but also the hope she had lost with the death of her wife.

After reading this play, I was excited to attend a full production, to see if it played as good as it read. It did not disappoint. Chilling, deadly serious, and at times hilarious. It’s been a couple weeks since I saw it, and it’s still in my head. Great multicultural roles, fantastic acting challenges, yet easy to stage. I can’t recommend it enough. It will leave an impact. Read it. I repeat, I cannot recommend it enough. Read it.

I was drawn in from the opening speach with a million questions. This tale is not simply one of one topic, its one of many, all entangled in world plagued by a pandemic. The whole story is one that will have an audience questioning long after they've finished watching/reading. Its theatre that inspires conversation because it is flooded with important topics that can be debated, starting right from the beginning you are asked a question of "Hero or villain?" and this fascinating stroy will have you enthralled as you try to find your answer,a truly powerful play.
