I had the chance to see a reading at the We Need New Plays festival. I loved the way the play drew me in as it slowly became clear what was happening. It trades on your expectations of modern fairy tale tellings but, ironically, ends up resembling classic fairy tales in a way we're not used to.

This anti-fairy tale is rich with the dark spirit of Grimm's Fairy Tales. It isn't a happily ever after. In fact, like the Grimms, it is a story about what terrible things can happen when you go out into the woods. Or, in this case, blackberry picking.
