A moving piece for two actresses. Characters are clearly drawn in the first two pages. Exposition happens smoothly.

This is an issue play that doesn't preach. A theme is developed: Time is an important factor in how people affect the environment, and vice versa. This idea is put forth in the context of the characters' lives. They find a connection and they form their own shoal.

Every word, every moment, every spark in the clash between science and the faith that comes with being of a place – it resounds throughout this extraordinary and elegant piece. As an observer, I hold little hope for the characters's survival, but as the audience, my heart defies logic and steeps itself in hope. Lighting, sound and costume designers will revel in evoking this world as much as the actors blessed to create these women. And Iridessa is one of the most beautiful names ever. [1/1/25]

Such a moving piece about what it means to be from somewhere. Lewis has created two really complex characters in such a few number of pages. I really enjoyed getting to spend time with these characters. A short play that will get you to lean in from the start.
