Recommendations of The Matriarch

  • John Hilla: The Matriarch

This is the tip of a very intriguing iceberg, indeed. A middle-aged restaurant owner and her too loyal employee cook up ... I won't spoil it, but the author insinuates much in very little space.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Matriarch

The world of professional cookery has always been a little cut throat and that's the tradition Chris continues here. This piece is a great back and forth between a paranoid (or is she?) chef and her well meaning employee. Its a play where you want to know more about what is going on in this kitchen!

There is something warm about these little windows into the lives of others, and this little play has that same affect.

  • Abigail Pinnow: The Matriarch

An intriguing short play that leaves the audience wanting to know what is going to come next for Janika and Harry (and even Roger).

  • Elizabeth Lee: The Matriarch

A highly intriguing piece with a fast pace that maintains the suspense throughout. I am genuinely curious about how this plot could unfold. There are some very interesting relationships and dynamics between the characters, even with the ones who are only mentioned in the dialogue.

This is the start to the most intriguing mafia movie we've ever seen! It's characters like Janika that we as audiences need to see more from!

Oh this would work perfectly as a radio drama. Chris Plumridge knows how to set a scene, doling out just enough info to hook you in, and even thought the piece is short, it's certainly not "fast food". There's much more going on this kitchen than meets the eye. (Or ear for a radio play). Now I'm curious where it's going. A "second course", maybe?

While Janina prepares a new Indian dish for her restaurant chain, it seems she’s also cooking up something nefarious. It’s never quite spelled out, and there are a couple of suspicious but unseen characters adding to the mystery. I could see this evolving into a full-blown mystery filled with recipes and intrigue. Even as it stands now this is one tasty morsel!
