What a wonderful read. I liked the basis in reality, and the characterizations. This could be a wonderful piece for competitions, or to pair with a few other shows for a night of one acts. It has two great parts for actors to sink their teeth into, and a very simple set. I'd love to see this staged.

I loved the atmosphere of old Hollywood that envelopes this play. I was surprised at how engaged I was by just two people talking. I would love to know the basis of this true tale. Highly recommended.

Now, it's my turn to join the many who have recommended this short play, a detailed snapshot of two people - one a legendary movie star, the other a vet, a common man with modest aspirations. The dialogue and characterization are never trite or condescending. The piece is warm and embracing, yet never mawkish or sentimental. It's world is black-and-white and melodramatic. And worth every minute of one's time. Highly recommended.

A RAINY NIGHT IN HOLLYWOOD presents a beautiful juxtaposition between two worlds - the glamour of old Hollywood and the brutal reality of war. Most of the audience probably exists somewhere in the middle of these extremes, and that's where this play takes place - in the every day. Erb presents a genuine moment between a movie star and a driver and it's a lovely tableau.

I had to, wanted, and needed to keep reading. This one grabs you right away. The characters, their lives, the vibrancy of dialogue, and the storytelling—I want to write dialogue that captivates, like this. I'll always refer back to this play—a tip of the cap to George and Rita. And Tom Erb, yeah, he was masterful too!

As a devout sucker for the Golden Age of Hollywood and World War Two, this play grabbed me and would not let go. I want more! A beautifully woven character study who meet at the right time, Erb gives us a starlet and a hero who are wonderfully human and humane. The play has a heartbeat, musicality, and a tale for all times. You never know where an encounter will lead. It makes you think.

I am always fascinated by Hollywood and love the little stories that no one ever gets to hear. I just loved the interaction between the two characters. Both led very different lives but are drawn together and find a connection. I love the vulnerability Rita shows, probably something felt by many big stars but always hidden away from public eyes and ears. Then the humility shown by George when he talks about his life and the terrible things he had to face. I absolutely loved this and didn't want it to end. Brilliant!
