This is a beautiful period piece that also feel so very relevant. It's not hard to see the connection between what is happening here and out own plague that directly impacted the arts. This is a play about the love of acting. I loved how the play explores the tenderness and passion between men in such a nuanced way. I love how gender expansive casting for this is. This is the kind of play that can breed empathy for those outside of the gender binary. This should be a staple for all Shakespeare focused companies.

I can’t stop thinking about this script. The way it teeters between laugh-out-loud comedy and a raw, empathetic look at the struggles (historically real or imagined) of these boys is remarkable. Any actor would be lucky to dive into such richly conflicted, deeply human characters.

I love Shakespeare, I love boy players, I love gender!!! This play has quickly become one of my favorites as I recommend new queer theatre. Gorgeous, funny, and unfortunately still timely with the rise of puritanism in our country, I highly recommend everyone read this play.

This play is absolutely gorgeous, and is tender, funny, heartbreaking, and powerful throughout. A brilliant exploration of gender, queerness, and patriarchy; deeply moving and real about the ways different forms of violence can shape and change a life, and the ways communities of artists must care for and protect one another, even as they hilariously rehearse and bicker. Each role is a dream for any actor. Truly transcendent, and immediately one of my favorite new plays.

A masterpiece and a tour-de-force. Boy My Greatness explores gender, desire, and performance with a degree of honesty and wisdom that took my breath away. The stories of these boy players, captured so perfectly at a precise moment in time, are brilliantly intertwined with the century-spanning words of Shakespeare; the effect is nothing less than extraordinary. I urge you to welcome this play onto your stage and into your heart. It will unquestionably remain there for a long, long time.

Stunning, absolutely stunning. I'm especially impressed with the tasteful interweaving of Shakespeare's writing, which feels carefully selected and never overdone. This work is thematically rich, building on its subject matter to question gender, faith, love, performance. Yet this play never veers towards self-indulgence, centering the characters and trusting the story to reveal its themes. And these characters are all deep & complex: an absolute dream for an actor. This play is clearly so thoughtful, so lovingly crafted. It had me laughing then soon after moved to tears. Truly, astonishingly...

Just saw Firebird's production of this masterful piece and I was blown away. The piece is filled with rich characters who you immediately take to, exploring sexuality, gender, and overall place in the world. Senese-Grossberg has created a world that you simply long to live inside of for as long as possible. Highly, highly recommended.

A stunningly theatrical play that will surely take the world by storm. The exploration of gender and sexuality, the characters embodying these predicaments so wonderfully, will surely make this a classic play for many years to come. I love a play that can be performed on an empty stage, and this is so gorgeously written! A tour de force!

This play deserves to be on stage where I cannot see the faces of the actors who are performing, only to sold out houses. Each character is written so exact, so chiseled, you know who they are from the first time they speak and what they will become by their last. The way the playwright wrote the fates of each of the characters, this might as well be a lost script from Shakespeare. To have me full on weeping, then with the next line have me rolling over laughing was a therapeutic experience. Don’t lose this one to history.
