Luca & Uri

Over the course of a decade, two men fall in and out of love beneath the moonlit skies of Los Angeles—holding tight through entangled sheets, quiet heartbreaks, and the ever-shifting shape of who they are. As time stretches and dreams pull them in different directions, they learn what happens when growing together starts to mean growing apart. (formerly titled Multiple Loads)

A lovely, poignant exploration of a relationship. This play winds itself back and forth in time with dexterity and each successive scene adds layer upon layer to Uri and Luca's story. Pilapil looks at the ways we both expand and contract in response to others in our lives and the delicate journey that is finding our own way and our identities while also fumbling for lasting connection. An alternatingly sweet, funny, sad, sexy, and ultimately hopeful piece that I'd love to see performed!

A great two-hander about two people that have different ideas about their future falling in love. Loved watching these two characters evolve and deepen over the years.

Nicholas Pilapil's "Multiple Loads" is at once disarming and devastating. A love story in the truest sense, seeing the end and beginning of a relationship, and creating a complex portrait of two people whose deferred dreams may now bring their love to a close. So many heart-wrenching, beautiful lines in this one - read this play and give it your heart to break!
